Dancing on Ice coming to our screens very soon

Lycra and glitter at the ready as lots of celebrities get ready for the ice off!

Bye, bye to X-Factor, bye, bye to Strictly come dancing and now on our screens at the weekend we will soon be able to watch flashing lycra, sequins, tan-coloured tights and big hair,  Dancing on Ice is back.

While LaToya Jackson, Lucy Pinder well  not any more she isn’t and Ulrika Jonsson are competing in Celebrity Big Brother, another group of C-listers will be taking to the ice in the hope of boosting their careers.

Leading this year’s ice princesses is former Blue Peter presenter Zoe Salmon who like low plunging neck lines , recently departed Emmerdale actress Roxanne Pallett and glamour model Melinda Messenger – Ultimo model for big busted women.

While on the boys side includes former The Bill and EastEnders actor Todd Carty, X Factor runner-up Ray Quinn and this year’s most surprising contestant, investigative journalist Donal MacIntyre.  The 13 celebrities will compete with each other over the three month show for the chance to win the king or queen of the ice title.  The winner will follow in the footsteps of previous winners Gaynor Faye, Kyran Bracken and Suzanne Shaw.

Completing the female contestants are Loose Women presenter and Iceland ad girl Coleen Nolan, ex-EastEnders and Hollyoaks actress Gemma Bissix and former Liberty X singer and cricket WAG Jessica Taylor – whose former bandmate Michelle Heaton is currently starring in Celebrity Big Brother.  On the male side, football star Graeme Le Saux, ex-rugby ace Ellery Hanley and former Holby City actor Jeremy Edwards, whose ex-fiancee Rachel Stevens recently came second in Strictly Come Dancing.  In a new move for TV talent shows, producers have allowed 2008 contestant, GMTV presenter Michael Underwood to return for this year’s series after being forced to withdraw last year after breaking his ankle.

He enthused: ‘(My ankle is) all completely healed now. The bone is probably stronger than it was before.

‘I want the campest outfits because I think the whole sport is pretty camp and if you’re going to go into it, let’s throw yourself into it.’  Giving her dance training from her Liberty X days, Jessica is already been tipped as one of the favourites.  Hollyoaks star Gemma said: ‘Jessica is really good – I have seen her.  ‘It makes me want to work even harder. I really want to do well for myself and if someone else is better, it just drives me even more.’

Former Nolan Sisters singer Coleen, who has lost five stone over the last few years and featured in a fitness DVD, said: ‘It’s weird for me as, when I started watching Dancing On Ice, I was a size 20, thinking “God, I could never do that.”  ‘And now, here I am being lifted as a size 10 and it’s just amazing.  ‘Luckily I get on with my partner very well as he’s probably touched me more intimately than my husband.’

This year, marks the return of all five judges from previous series, Karen Barber, Robin Cousins, Jason Gardiner, Nicky Slater and Ruthie Henshall.

Also back on board are mentors Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean and presenters Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, who is currently pregnant with her first child.
