Millie Mackintosh’s blog: Holiday essentials and how to choose the perfect bikini for you

Are you escaping for a winter break and already worrying what to pack?

It’s often quite difficult to find the perfect bikini, or one at all in the shops during the winter months, but I’ve  found just the place at Biondi Boutique.

Millie Mackintosh has revealed how to pack for that winter holiday in her exclusive blog this weekAlyia Wilkinson, swimwear designer and expert from Biondi boutique, Chelsea,  has helped me find the perfect swimwear for my holidays over the last two years and has even designed some bespoke pieces for exciting holidays – like my trip to Ibiza last year.

This bespoke swimwear service means anyone can get the perfect fitting couture swimwear, at any time of year!

Biondi Couture is a super chic holiday boutique tucked away in the heart of Chelsea. It’s definitely my one-stop-shop for my perfect holiday wardrobe especially when I know I can get one lovingly made on-site in the boutique workshop.

I’m also very excited to announce that she has a collection coming out available in both Biondi Boutique and Harvey Nichols this autumn.

Millie, posing with Alyia Wilkinson, swimwear designer and expert from Biondi boutique, has revealed her top bikini …Aliya grew up in Ibiza, where the beautiful beaches are enjoyed by fashionable people from all over the world and where style is everything. This inspiration along with her natural instinct for design, in particular swimwear, means she really knows a thing or two about perfect swimwear.

Tips to the perfect swimwear collection:

1. Going shopping for swimwear can be a bit daunting but try and choose a day when you are feeling good about yourself, it makes all the difference! Plus a little bit of fake tan helps too.

2. I always buy from brands that sell separates; this is a great way to get the perfect fit as not everyone is the same size on top and bottom. If you are a D cup+, you should buy brands that are designed for bigger busts and sized like bras to ensure a better fit.

3. The right cut is key.  Try not to cover your worst bits in fabric as this accentuates them. For example, a brazilian cut bottom may be more revealing but it gives the illusion that your bottom is smaller!

4. The cut of the leg is also really important. Get a slightly higher cut leg if you’re shorter, as this helps to add length.

5. If you’re small busted and want to appear bigger, try bikinis with ruffles or frills on the top. They sell Swim Shapers at Biondi… slip their pads into the lining of your triangle top and you go up a cup size.

Millie has revealed her ultimate swimwear buying guide6. Don’t always follow trends with colours and prints, choose what suits your colouring and skin tone. Darker colours are more slimming in general and you can use print to disguise areas.

7. Choose flattering cover ups, you want to feel comfortable in the heat so nothing too tight, but also nothing tent like which exaggerates your size. I like easy pieces which I can wear from beach to bar, a simple dress which can be dressed up with jewellery and glitzy sandals. Versatile items also help you travel light.

. Invest in a well-made bikini, if you look after it, it will last longer, they often fit better too.

9. Always rinse your swimsuit after swimming as salt and chlorine can destroy lycra. I always hand wash mine with a mild soap or baby shampoo.

10. Choose a shop with knowledgeable staff and don’t be afraid to ask for advice, it helps to try on as many shapes as possible to find the perfect one for you.

Once you have the beachwear sorted, it’s time to start thinking about the beauty treatments that will make you feel even better laid on the beach and the little bits you take away with you.

I like to get any last minute pampering done before a trip abroad, it always makes me feel ready to get my limbs out.

Having some pampering before your holiday will help you feel better about getting your limbs out, Millie saysI love using the at home beauty service perfect 10. Having treatments at home saves me stress and time and let’s me just focus on the packing. My favorite treatments before a holiday are a facial and back massage, which helps me to relax and get my skin ready to be exposed to the sun.

A good mani and pedi (of course!); a leg wax to make sure my legs are ready for the sun and a lash tint, this saves me from any mascara during the day time.

Millie Mackintosh has revealed her holiday beauty essentials ths week My beauty essentials to take away with me are, a facial spritzer, I always carry at spritzer with me when i’m flying to keep my skin hydrated, it is also perfect to refresh yourself while sunbathing.

This hand cream is perfect handbag size and smells divine! The sun can be very damaging to your hair and mine always seems a bit dry while I am away, to stop my hair getting damaged I leave this mask in when swimming in a pool or the sea and it works like a protective barrier as well and nourishing the hair- best of both worlds.

Enjoy the winter sun and feel great in your Bikini! x
