It might be over but not forgotten as Dita strut her stuff behind the German singer singing his little ditty.

There’ was the usual gravity-defying hair and eye-popping coloured Lycra costumes, but this year’s Eurovision Song Contest offered a little bit of sex appeal thanks to one Miss Dita Von Teese- or should that be a lot?

The burlesque star gave a glimpse of what was to come as she peeled down to a very racy basque during rehearsals in Moscow early this week.   The former Mrs Marilyn Manson exposed almost all her cleavage – diamante nipple tassels were the only thing saving her modesty – as she practised her routine with the Germany entry for the annual competition.  Needless to say even with Dita strutting her stuff they only got 35 points and therefore did not win all the bands lost to a fiddling Norwegian.

Dita has had a huge following in Germany since her failed marriage to shock rocker Manson, whose music is popular in the country.   Dita, 36, told German newspaper Bild earlier this month: ‘I feel honoured to appear with Alex and Oscar at the Grand Prix in Moscow.

Her collection is a combination of 1950s shapes and 1940s fabrics and is her first line of designed garments for which she is famous for – what a waist Dita has.   Dita just loves the 1940-50’s fashion which she used as inspiration for her new range.    The pieces include a mixture of suspenders, thongs and bras, which Von Teese says are so comfortable that she wears them regularly.

She admits her current incarnation as the face of Wonderbra is a dream come true, “I’ve always wanted to do something with lingerie and it was important for the finished product to be something I would wear myself.”

Britain’s Got Talent is returning to the small screen on Saturday, you either love it or hate it, here we love it BIG TIME!  and as usual it is bringing  to our screens a cast of typically colourful characters.  Even more yipee Pictures from the third series of the ITV talent show suggest this year’s hopefuls are not afraid to reveal some skin in their bid to steal the crown – well maybe not so yipee!!!!!!

Mel B as I have written about before has been rehearsing for her new role which she seems to be enjoying and who can blame her.   Cavorting with fit bare-chested male dancers and shimmying with female co-stars the former Spice Girl Mel B last week presented her burlesque act Peepshow in Las Vegas.

And although Leeds-born Mel didn’t go topless in the show, some of her fellow dancers did. She described the performance as ‘scantily clad, but in a classy way’.

With the rise of artists such as Dita Von Teese, the famous burlesque queen  has made burlesque become a high-profile form of entertainment, even considered an art form.   How pouring pink paint onto a man tied to a bed fits in with this is open debate but the former Scary Spice clearly enjoyed her role as a saucy striptease artist.   At the show in the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino, Mel B – whose full name is Melanie Brown – donned a range of increasingly provocative outfits.

The preview performance last week was not without incident, and a fire alarm was set off during the first song.  I wonder if strapping firemen arrived in their suits!!! Oh wonderous!   Despite this, the singer was given a standing ovation at the end of the show.  Mel B wears a range of increasingly provocative outfits in the burlesque show.

Mel B stars as Peep Diva, described as ‘a bold and powerful woman with all the answers’, who acts as the mistress of ceremonies.   She guides the timid Bo Peep, played by American TV starlet Kelly Monaco, on a journey of self-discovery and sexual awakening.   Kelly’s character blossoms into a ‘sexy, daring, provocative and more confident woman’ with Mel’s expert help.

The former Spice Girl said of her new role: ‘Because I’m coming out as a solo artist next year, I feel this show is putting me back in an arena that I’m most comfortable in and love doing most, which is performing and entertaining on stage.’   Mel added: ‘This is an original show. She was joined by several scantily-clad dancers.   ‘As a Spice Girl I would bring guys on the stage and whip them, so I think I’ve always been slightly naughty.’   In comparison to former bandmate Victoria, who is carving out a name for herself in the fashion industry, Mel B has had a relatively low profile since the end of her days as Scary Spice.

Most celebrities put on baggy sweats and a  cap some put on dark glasses so they will not be recognised when they are  working out, but not burlesque beauty Dita Von Teese, who put fellow celebrities to shame at a Hollywood pilates centre this week.


To look this good you have to work at it and like Kate Winslet who has found her new friend Pilates! Dita loves it too.

Famed for her retro 1940s look, the ex-wife of Marilyn Manson didn’t disappoint with perfectly coiffed hair and flawless make-up including signature red lipstick.

Nor would an old vest suffice for the elegant 36-year-old’s workout, instead opting for a black form-fitting T-shirt and capri-length leggings.

The Burlesque star was in full make-up, including her signature red lipstick.  A girl always has to look her best!  The dancer, who has become famous for her risqué dance routines, barely worked up a sweat as she went through her exercises, which appeared to be a series of stretches.

Former ballerina Von Teese proved her flexibility, lifting her legs high above her head with the guidance of an instructor at West Hollywood’s Windsor Pilates.  The burlesque star, whose real name is Heather Sweet,  apparently didn’t deem her sports kit appropriate attire for the streets though. Following her class, she emerged from the centre in towering heels, a sweeping black coat, and leopard-print scarf.   Like I said a girl always has to look her best.

Polished right down to her manicured fingertips, she carried a gold Eiffel Tower keyring for her car keys.

Von Teese is most famous for her ‘martini glass’ routine, in which she ‘bathes’ in a giant cocktail. She has many celebrity fans, and has performed for the cast of Ocean’s Thirteen, which includes George Clooney and Brad Pitt.  That’s because she looks great and is very hot and sexy!


Thanks to her signature lip colour, Von Teese has also fronted a M.A.C. make-up campaign, for which she cavorted on a giant lipstick like a bucking bronco.


British women are reported that they are not bothered about their underwear! I beg to differ!

In a new report that was printed in May by  Mintel, they reported that British women are anything but fashionable when it comes to buying underwear. Grey, saggy knickers, holey vests and fraying bra straps don’t conjure up the sexiest image! They go on to say “But this is what it takes for British women to go out and get themselves some new underwear. In fact, this research from Mintel finds that 60% of women will only ever buy underwear when it needs replacing. By comparison, just three in ten (31%) splash out on bras and pants for special occasions”.

“Despite the return of saucy Burlesque shows by Dita von Teese and others, check out the my blog entry about Dita and check out what she gets up to and also check out the Dita Posting- Dita wears jeans on the Schultz  Blog.   British women still take a functional and practical approach to underwear, and clearly don’t see it as something that can be really sexy and alluring,” comments Katrin Magnussen, senior fashion analyst at MINTEL.

  • “The underwear industry needs to encourage women to go out there and spend their hard earned cash on beautiful lingerie that makes them feel really special. We need to see more advertising that is fun but also seductive, as the last time we really saw anything along these lines was the ‘hello boys’ campaign from Wonderbra, and that came out almost 15 years ago,” she adds.


  • Popular TV programmes such as ‘What not to wear’ and Gok Wan’s ‘How to look good naked’ recommend that women should always have a combination of structured underwear to look good and sets that are a little racier to feel good. And yet, Mintel’s research shows that only a third (34%) of women buy matching bras and knickers and a similar proportion (36%) still mainly buy multipacks. The message is just not getting through.
  • They go on to say – Britain’s women are also not investing in the underwear that they do buy. In fact, Mintel’s research shows that most women (63%) spend less than a tenner a month on their undies, compared to just 7% who spend between £21 and £40 a month.
  • What is more, swarms of women are now also buying their smalls from value retailers and supermarkets. In fact, although M&S still leads the way, with 51% of women buying underwear there, almost half (48%) went to Tesco, Matalan, Primark or ASDA for their bras and pants last year.
  • “Buying underwear at value retailers or down the local supermarket does mean that women get more pants for their pound. But buying cheap often comes at a price, as the underwear is unlikely to last as long as more expensive pieces and will need to be replaced more regularly,” explains Katrin Magnussen.
  • With women increasingly looking to bag a bargain, the market for bras and pants has seen only around 3% growth year on year since 2004, with spending last year reaching £1.2 billion.
  • “To try and stem the trend towards cheaper underwear, retailers including Primark and Topshop, are now introducing more up-market ranges to convince women that they should invest a little more. With some real care and attention going into the design and manufacturing of these ranges, they are also less likely to fall apart quite as quickly as some of the less expensive ones,” comments Katrin Magnussen. Men need to pull their socks up
  • And while the ladies refuse to shell out for new underwear for themselves, men still depend on other people to do their dirty work. In fact, over one in four (27%) men say that their partner buys their underwear, while 15% receive most of smalls as gifts.
